History

From 1988 through early 2015, we engaged donors and volunteers in philanthropic support for the advancement of care at Community Medical Center and healthcare education in western Montana as Community Medical Center Foundation.

When our flagship community-owned hospital was sold to a for-profit entity January 2015, the Foundation Board, as a separate nonprofit organization, voted to retain our nonprofit status and begin community-wide operations as Foundation for Community Health, with a new mission of engaging western Montanans in health education and support to advance healthy lives through the gifts of donors, partners, and volunteers. Our organization once again changed our name in 2023 to Community Health Alliance to better represent our work and the ways in which we operate.

Our collective impact is reflected in the generations of patients, families and community members of all ages served by the more than $14 million disbursed for hospital facilities, programs, and people, as well as community-wide initiatives; more than 700 healthcare scholarships awarded to high school seniors and healthcare professionals; 22 years of our Steven Robinson Memorial Endowment melanoma/skin cancer prevention education; nine years of Safe Kids leadership; and more than 25 years of public presentations on health-related issues.

“Being active in the life of our Foundation gives me the opportunity to provide and encourage support for advancing healthy lives in western Montana.”

– R.H. “Ty” Robinson, 1916-2018
