Professional Development Healthcare Scholarships

Professional Development Healthcare Scholarships offered by Community Health Alliance provide financial assistance for education and certification opportunities that will support quality patient care and improve health outcomes for western Montanans. Categories of scholarship funding vary by cycle, but are generally offered in the areas of breast health, cardiology, nursing, obstetrics and neonatal, orthopedics, radiology, and rehabilitation. Professional Development Healthcare Scholarships are made possible by historic and endowed funds.

While considered on a case-by-case basis, funds awarded are typically limited to $500 per applicant, per year and are dependent on fund balances. Partial funding amounts may be awarded. Payments are issued directly to the vendor whenever possible. Receipt of payment is required for reimbursements.

Requested applications and required materials must be returned to Community Health Alliance at 2315 McDonald Ave Ste 102, Missoula, MT 59801. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure all materials are received.

Eligibility & Requirements

Applications are open to currently employed health professionals in western Montana who are pursuing skill-based training, additional post-secondary scholastic education, or certification for an industry-recognized credential or licensure in their field. Scholarships can be used for tuition, registration or certification fees, or travel expenses to attend the opportunity. 

Applicants must be employed in a healthcare field and working 20/hours a week or more on average. Applicants must have completed at least six months of employment (12 months preferred) and be a Montana resident working in western Montana.  

Applicants are required to provide information about the educational opportunity as well as the reason for pursuing the endeavor. Applicants must describe their professional goals and how participation in the opportunity will improve health outcomes for western Montanans. 

Applicants must also provide information about their past and current employment in the healthcare field and secure supervisor and entity authorization for the training.* 

*Self-employed individuals may submit the supervisor and entity authorization themselves.

Selection & Payment

The application and all required documentation must be submitted by the deadline for the application to be considered.

Applications are reviewed and award decisions are made by the Education Committee of our Board of Trustees. Award notifications are generally provided by the 15th of the month following the application due date.

Awards are paid directly to the vendor whenever possible. Receipt of payment is required for reimbursements.
