About Community Health Alliance

Our Mission & Purpose

Community Health Alliance promotes the health, education, and safety of Western Montanans by connecting them to resources when and where they need it most.

Guided by our mission, we work to address critical health needs through collaborative programs and community-driven initiatives.

Our History

From 1988 through early 2015, we worked with donors and volunteers to support the advancement of care at Community Medical Center and healthcare education in western Montana as Community Medical Center Foundation.

When our flagship community-owned hospital was sold to a for-profit entity in January 2015, our Board, as a separate nonprofit organization, voted to retain our nonprofit status. We began community-wide operations as Foundation for Community Health, with a new mission of fostering lifelong health and safety for all who call Western Montana home. In 2023, we once again changed our name to Community Health Alliance to better reflect how we work in partnership to advance community well-being.

Today, Community Health Alliance is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees and manages more than $6 million in permanent endowments, trusts, gift annuities, and current funds to support our mission.
