Support When You Need It Most
Addressing health needs brings many challenges, and financial strain should not be one of them. Community Health Alliance’s patient assistance funds provide direct support to Western Montana patients for essential care-related expenses. Through the generosity of our donors, we help alleviate the financial burden of transportation, nutrition, medical supplies, and other critical needs so patients can focus on healing.
Our program prioritizes individuals with demonstrated financial need, ensuring that resources reach those who need them most. Each application is confidentially reviewed, and funds are distributed as available to remove barriers to care and support well-being.
Our Patient Assistance Funds
The Ava Nicole Breast Health Fund
Supports care-related costs for breast health patients in western Montana.

The Community Oncology Patient Fund
Provides assistance to western Montana oncology patients for care-related costs.

The Chumrau & Robinson Endowment
Offers travel and lodging assistance to families of oncology patients who need to accompany their loved one to treatment.

Provides financial assistance to help defray medical costs for those affected by or at risk of cancer due to family history and/or hereditary genetic mutations.

Eligibility Criteria
Although each of our patient assistance funds have their own criteria, patients may generally be eligible for assistance if they meet the following requirements:
- Have a diagnosis or are undergoing treatment for a health issue that aligns with one of our funds
- Access care in Western Montana
- Demonstrate financial need after insurance and other resources have been considered
- Require support for essential care-related costs
How to Apply
Grant applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and each request is carefully reviewed by our grant committee. Approved grants are typically limited to $500 per patient per 12-month period.
Application Process:
- Complete an Application – Fill out our confidential application form, available online (link) or by contacting our office, and provide the required information and financial documentation.
- Committee Review – Applications are reviewed as they are received, with decisions typically made within 30 days. Only complete and qualified applications will be reviewed. Our staff may reach out to you for additional information.
- Receive Assistance – Approved patients will receive support in the form of direct payments to vendors for medical and care-related expenses, gas or grocery cards, or reimbursement for documented expenses that have already been paid.
